Research Activity

Research is developed in the frame of Nuclear Plant Safety. The following fields are mainly addressed:

o        heat and mass transfer: evaporation and condensation

o        falling film statistical characterisation

o        natural and gas-injection enhanced circulation

2.     Modelling of basic thermal-hydraulic phenomena and plant transients

o        heat and mass transfer: evaporation and condensation

o        annular flow in vertical channels

o        numerical methods for heat conduction and fluid-dynamics

o        codes for the analysis of thermal-hydraulic plant transients

3.     Computational analysis of fluid-dinamic instability problems

o        boiling channel instabilities

o        single-phase thermosyphon loop instabilities

o        natural convection in cavities

4.     Validation and application of codes for the safety analysis of nuclear power plants
